Timbert remained an Air Traffic Controller until 1981 when President Regan fired 80% of the nation’s controllers. Timbert was hired as an Atlanta Firefighter and was assigned to Atlanta International Airport. Trained as both a Structural Firefighter and a Crash Fire Rescue Firefighter, Timbert became interested in the ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Rescue Service at the airport. He completed Paramedic training and was assigned to the ACLS Rescue Unit at Atlanta Airport. During this time as a paramedic, he made the decision to further his medical training, (Medical School). Timbert returned to college to complete all the prerequisite science courses for Medical School and obtain his B.S. degree. Three years later in June of 1987, at age 34, he graduated with Honors from Georgia State University and was accepted to Emory University School of Medicine which began in August of 1987.
Upon completion of Medical School in 1991, Timbert was accepted to the Emory Surgical Residency Program. The Surgical Residency Program was completed in 1996. An additional year of specialized training earned him a Fellowship in Oncology/Plastic Surgery. In 1997, Dr. Timbert left Emory at age 45 to go into private practice. After working for several years with another surgeon in Fayetteville, Georgia, Dr. Timbert opened his own practice in July of 2003, Southern Crescent Breast Specialists.
Southern Crescent Breast Specialists is a dedicated breast surgery practice that utilizes state of the art digital diagnostic equipment and techniques to decrease the time from detection to diagnosis of benign and malignant breast disease. Dr. Timbert leads the team that provides state of the art breast care in a warm and friendly environment where the patient’s concerns come first.
